Wayne Trusty
Wayne Trusty is president of the Athena Sustainable Materials Institute
and Athena Institute International, not-for-profit organizations in Canada
and the United States dedicated to sustainability of the built environment.
Trusty has helped to develop the Athena Institute’s worldwide reputation in the field of sustainable building and life cycle assessment (LCA) by championing its knowledge and expertise through groundbreaking software, world-class LCA databases and customized consulting services.
He was recently appointed as an adjunct associate professor on the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Environmental Design. He serves of the board of the Green Building Initiative and as the chairman of its technical committee, was until recently a vice chair of the board for the Canada Green Building Council and continues to serve on its product steering committee. He has also been a board members for the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment.
Trusty is a member of several organizations, including the US Consortium for Research on Renewable Industrial Materials and the US Green Building Council, where he serves on the LEED Resources and Materials Technical Advisory Group and until recently served on the LEED New Construction Steering Committee. He also served as a member of the US National Academy of Sciences’ Committee on Materials Flow.
