Eligibility
Who can participate in the Lifecycle Building Challenge?
People of any age from a wide variety of expertise are encouraged to participate. Contestants can be students or professionals interested in architecture, design, reuse, planning, engineering, product stewardship, recycling, construction, green building, or environmental issues.
Can non-residents of the United States compete in the Lifecycle Building Challenge?
No, only U.S. citizens or lawful temporary or permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible to participate.
Intellectual Property and Public Use
How does the Challenge address intellectual property rights and use/publication of submissions?
Entrants are responsible for the protection of any intellectual property or copyright associated with their entry by patent or other means. All entries received will be considered public information.
By registering, the entrants agree that the Challenge Committee and partners shall have the unlimited right to publish and exhibit and otherwise use all entries and materials submitted by competition participants through any means of communication, including, but not limited to publication, presentation, display, and electronic posting for an indefinite period of time. All submitted materials will become the property of Lifecycle Building Challenge and will be considered for inclusion on the Lifecycle Building Challenge website. Submitted materials will not be returned.
Fees
Is there a fee to register for the competition?
No. There is no fee for participating.
Team Entries
Can teams enter the competition?
Yes. Groups that consist of a maximum of 5 people are allowed to submit entries. Team members will share cash awards.
Entry Type/Format
Can I submit multiple entries?
Yes. Each entry requires separate registration.
What kinds of entries are permitted?
For the professional tier, contestants may submit both built and unbuilt work.
Students may submit unbuilt work only.
Contestants are encouraged to submit their ideas however their concept will be best represented. Submissions can be photographs, drawings of concepts or descriptions of a lifecycle building strategy. Detailed specifications for submission formats are included within the contestant guidelines.
Is it permissible to mail a hardcopy of my submission?
No. In order to reduce paper waste, only electronic formats will be accepted.
Deadlines
When are the registration and submission deadlines?
The registration and entry submission deadline is July 31, 2008
